Taft Overhead and Bruhn Bridge Replacement Cultural Heritage Assessment

Further building on the training and collaborative research relationship established in the previous two CHA projects, Kwusen continued work with Secwépemc CH Researchers to complete a third CHA project .

Like the previous CHA projects, this study included interviews with Elder and knowledge keepers, community data review workshops, and archival research. This project was designed to assist the Secwépemc Parties in assessing the potential effects of the Taft Overhead and Bruhn Bridge Replacement segments of Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure’s Highway 1 – Kamloops to Alberta Four-Laning Program on Traditional Use Values, opportunities to exercise rights, the proposed Project’s contribution to cumulative effects, and effects on the broader Aboriginal Rights and Title of the Secwépemc Parties.
